CLP x America 250th Anniversary @ Brooklyn Museum

ASNEAA Community Legacy Project (CLP) x America 250th Anniversary events so far kicked off at Fort Greene Park (FGP) and Commodore Barry Park (CBP) in Brooklyn! The goal is to host an event in each borough, which hasn’t been a seamless process. Similar to the CLP pop-up activation at Cuyler Gore Park for Diwali, a lighbulb went off in the adversity to scaling CLP programming citywide and developing the business of social justice. Last year, I was stunted in the backlash to CLP programming in Manhattan and am better adapted to pivot when necessary. s/o to CLP @ Morningside Park for the refocus on the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) heritage exploration everywhere; birthing the new CLP model that kicked off this year @ Dance Africa!

As I plan and the universe laughs, the bucketlist for desired CLP programming locations is endless! Business lesson 101 is the target audience are the people that connect with the product. August kicked off Black Business Month and Emancipation Day, and the business of social justice was reactivated for ASNEAA. Brooklyn Museum First Saturdays is one of my favorite things to do and connect with like-minded people. I’ve handed out ASNEAA postcards on many of visits over the years. With the renewed entrepreneurial energy of the month, I decided to host a CLP x America 250th Anniversary activation @ Brooklyn Museum First Saturday: “Where Brooklyn Meets the Caribbean”. The ASNEAA global mapping is updated to showcase BIPOC heritage in Central Brooklyn and America 250th commemorations- including Brooklyn Museum.

CLP x America 250th Anniversary @ Brooklyn Museum participants were invited to share their name and BIPOC heritage on the retractable banner – s/o to the whole Caribbean Massive that showed up in lines wrapped around the museum:

CLP x America 250th Anniversary @ Brooklyn Museum participants were also invited to explore the BIPOC heritage geotags on the ASNEAA website:

Though the arts as advocacy creative expression project didn’t manifest as planned, the ASNEAA business theme of pivot and scale did. s/o to the people in line that checked out the ASNEAA website as they waited, exceeding the multidimensional praxis (online + in-person) goals for a traditional CLP pop-up activation:

And now with proof of concept in place, the goal for next CLP pop-up activation is to streamline the programming model for the business of social justice and meeting the target audience (people of ALL AGES and BACKGROUNDS) in community! Brooklyn, respect and compassion would never do without you. I’m forever in service, here’s to spreading love citywide!

Thank you to the CLP x America 250th Anniversary host, participants, and donors:
