CLP x SU-CASA @ Langston Hughes Senior Center

To kick off 2025, ASNEAA creator + board secretary- Shari Jones- facilitated Community Legacy Project (CLP) programming sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council Creative Aging initiative. CLP x SU-CASA was a new experience targeting “golden elders” with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) heritage education + exploration + arts as advocacy creative expression projects. Participants at the Langston Hughes Senior Center engaged with over 400 years of global to local multicultural heritage content- centering BIPOC narratives:

CLP x SU-CASA participants actualized the ASNEAA multi-dimensional (online + in-person) goals with a BIPOC Heritage is World History virtual panel featuring Walla Elsheikh / Birthright AFRICA and Miriam Robertson / Brownsville Heritage House discussing the importance of African Diaspora connections:

CLP x SU-CASA participants continued developing their multi-dimensional praxis with exploration field trips to Brownsville Heritage House and Weeksville Heritage Center (ASNEAA global mapping geotagged locations). s/o to Miriam and Paige for being wonderful tour / education guides:

As CLP x SU-CASA came to a close, participants decided for the community showcase to highlight various social justice activists of their choosing with paint canvas’ + personal narratives. s/o to Tiffany for the beautiful canvas printing! CLP x SU-CASA participants also made legacy bracelets:

The community legacy art projects (C.L.A.P.) and CLP x SU-CASA ASNEAA geotag is a reminder of our special time together. Here’s to social justice advocacy from Brownsville to the world- never ran, never will!
